My Three Principles Of Navigating 2020 and Beyond by Sandra Meehan

Every one of us put our hands up to be here on Planet Earth at this great time of change.
Never before have we had such conveniences and such knowledge, yet never before have our lives been so stressed and unhealthy.

We have made sleep deprivation a symbol of ambition and rest a symbol of laziness, we have made being too busy, a symbol of importance.

What if I said to you we have forgotten how to be human.

We have been conditioned to believe that life is all about hard work to achieve our outcomes.

While this may be true in some way, the recent pandemic has allowed every one of us to rediscover what it is like to be human.

So I would like to share with you my three principles I am going to use each day to navigate through 2020 and beyond.

  • Principle 1. Play

While all of us can identify play with children, we often forget how important it is to play as an adult. You see, life was never meant to be hard or stressful.

I am not talking about playing a sport where it has become a win at all cost. I am talking about the true gift of play and laughter.

Play will make you more creative, passionate and healthy it allows the brain to have a rest as you connect in with your inner self on a deeper level.

It allows us to be fearless rather than fearful; it also keeps you feeling young and energetic. When I reconnected with my playful self, I found I connected with my purpose, passion and creativity on a whole new level.

  • Principle 2. Connection With Others

I feel we as humans we have taken for granted the importance of the human need for real connection. If COVID-19 has reminded us of anything, it is the importance of real connection with others.

We as humans have forgotten that real physical connection is a basic part of life. Technology has brought us closer together than ever before; however, it can not replace the true connection of human touch.

Humans are designed to be social and not to be isolated when we physically connect in meaningful ways it feels great as we feel as if we have made a contribution to just not others lives as well as our own.

It allows us to take that step closer to truly seeing and being in the vibration of true unconditional love.

I would like to challenge you to do this the next time you are out walking. Look into the eyes of people you pass say hello see and feel the connection to their soul.
You will not only brighten up your day you may be the only other human that has spoken to them in days.

  • Principle 3. Rest and Relaxation

One of the best things to come out of the crazy times we have been living in is that we have been able to slow down and step off the hamster wheel of our busyness.

We are not machines, we can not keep going and going. Even machines break down if they are not serviced and looked after.

When we are stressed our body releases hormones which wreak havoc on us, which keeps us in the fight or flight syndrome. As a spirit in physicality, we are not designed to live like this.

When we are fully rested and relaxed, we come out of our head and into our heart. We are no longer reactive towards ourselves or others we are calmer with our children, partners, and not only do we benefit everyone one around us does.

I hear so many say I can get by on 3 to 4 hours sleep a night. That may be so however what is it doing to your body and mind just ask new mothers who have babies that do not sleep how stressed they are and how well the can cope on very little sleep.
Rest and relaxation is not something that is earned; it is a basic human need to live a long and happy life.

What are your favourite ways to relax? Here are mine.

Walking along the beach.
Listening to my favourite music.
Painting.
Spending time with family and friends.

What are your favourite ways to relax? I would love to know.

Remember we came here to play, connect and then rest and relax. When we combine these three things together we connect with our soul and allow the universe to send us all the abundance we desire.
