There is an oft used old expression, “Change is the only constant.” It is often attributed to Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher who lived 2,500 years ago.
Heraclitus could never have imagined the pace of change that exists in today’s world. Change is not constant. It is accelerating exponentially. In fact, the world has changed more in your lifetime than it did in all the many centuries since Heraclitus’ lifetime.
Fortunately, there are some essential things that are constant; principles that we can use to guide us through even the most challenging and transformative times of change.
Two days ago, in conversation with my Live Success Now Masterclass participants, the subject of Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich came up. Originally published in 1937, it seems quite old-fashioned in today’s world. So much has changed since those quaint old days in the midst of the Great Depression and the prevailing zeitgeist that had arisen out of the Industrial Revolution.
Even Hill’s most famous line, “Everything the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve,” is considered by many to be both politically incorrect and motivational hyperbole in this post-industrial and post-modern age of diminished expectations.
But, the principles of success described by Hill are amongst those things that remain constant, even in a world of constantly accelerating change.
So, not only is Hill’s maxim true, but we need to be reminded that everything that humans ever created, from the simplest stone axe to the International Space Station, from the great Renaissance works of art to this mag called Holistic Bliss, was first conceived and believed in the mind before it became an actual result.
Success in any area of life, be it individual material success or societal well-being is a product of human imagination and aspiration. This manifest success comes into existence as a result of certain immutable principles that are used to first imagine or conceptualise and then to make manifest or actualise an ideal created in human imagination.
Consciousness is creative. Thoughts can become things. Ideals pursued shape reality. Understanding and applying the principles of success transform the individual person from a victim of fate to a shaper of personal destiny. Self-actualising human beings elevate themselves from being mere creatures of event and circumstance to becoming creators of event and circumstance by learning and applying the tried and true principles of success.
These same principles worked in the time of Heraclitus. They worked in the time of Napoleon Hill. They work today. And they will work tomorrow no matter how profoundly things change.
I have been teaching these principles of success for many years now. I cannot elucidate them for you here in the space available to me. But I can offer you a gift. My book, Your Prosperity Paradigm, explains what these principles are and how you can apply them to your life. Everyone who emails me with the words, Holistic Bliss Gift as the Subject of an email requesting a copy of the book will receive a link to download a free digital copy.
