With the June solstice now behind us, the northern hemisphere summer is in full swing, and winter is making itself known here in Australia. With the recent European heatwave, it’s no wonder so many of my Antipodean friends are hopping on planes and escaping our rather brisk winter, especially here in the frosty interior Southern Tablelands.
Lately, more and more people have been coming into the shop asking, “What’s the best crystal for travel?”
Now… this is a very good question – especially for anyone who has ever endured a crowded flight in economy class.
The thought of heading off on holidays can bring up a whole range of predicaments and associated emotions. Bali Belly, COVID, flight delays, lost luggage, and crammed airports are enough to make anyone anxious before they’ve even left home. I’ve noticed that collective travel overwhelm is becoming more and more common – and it is hard work to maintain the necessary emotional and energetic balance required for travel serenity.
So, how do we support ourselves during the journey to our perfect destination?
Choose Your Crystals Based on Your ‘Travel’ Emotion
I suggest choosing your crystals based on the emotions that travel stirs up for you. Your energy field will let you know what you need the most – whether that’s protection, calming, grounding, or simply something comforting to hold in the chaos of a crowded departure lounge.
And yes – my advice is to keep them in your pocket, not your bra. Trust me on this one. Explaining to a stern-looking security officer in Dubai why you’re concealing semi-precious stones in your undergarments is not a relaxing way to start your trip (unless you enjoy making airport staff slightly nervous!).
Crystals for Common Travel Needs
Many travel worries stem from a ‘fear’ of something – the unknown, being ill, being uncomfortable, setting off the security alarm. It can be all part of the travel excitement, but if you can work out what you are ‘worrying about’ you can overcome these fears – and, if you subscribe to the concept that ‘thoughts become things’, stop it happening.
Here are some best crystals to choose to support you on your travels:
- Overwhelm. TryLepidolite – contains natural lithium to calm the nervous system and reduce travel anxiety.
- Energetic Protection. Use Black Tourmaline – a powerful protector that deflects negative energy and keeps your aura strong in crowded, chaotic spaces.
- Radiation when flying. Shungite, known for its purifying and protective properties, is helpful in shielding against EMFs, especially handy when flying.
- Staying Calm. CarryAmethyst – a gentle spiritual soother, perfect for calming the mind, supporting meditation, and encouraging restful sleep.
- Worried About Germs and Illness? UseClear Quartz – the master healer, it amplifies your immune intentions and strengthens your energy field.
- Jet Lag? TrySmoky Quartz – grounds your energy and keeps you connected to your body while moving through time zones.
- Needing Sleep on the Go? CuddleHowlite – soothes an overactive or excited mind, ideal for long flights or winding down in unfamiliar hotel rooms.
Pack a Mini-Travel Crystal Grid
For a powerful travel crystal grid, gather six points of Amethyst and/or Clear Quartz and arrange them in a circle or hexagon around a central anchor stone of your choice – choose a crystal that aligns with your deepest intention for the journey. As you lay each stone, infuse it with purpose and visualise your path unfolding with ease, protection, and grace. Let the grid hold your energy steady as you move through airports, time zones, and new spaces.
There you go! My best advice is to keep your positive intentions close to your heart, and trust that you are guided and supported, wherever your travels may take you.
