A Feather a Day by Sharne Young

Rather than pulling a card this month from my Oracle card deck, I thought I would share a NEW story & divination with NEW artwork this month.

A Feather a Day

Monday began as usual.  A walk with the dog along a familiar route. The grass was soggy from the rain overnight. It always rained overnight before a Monday morning. I was deep in thought, trying not to worry about the day ahead.  The footpath guided me in a straight line beside the road. I often thought that was my life – straight lines. The dog stopped to sniff at something under one of the street trees.  That made me stop too.  I looked down to my feet still distracted by my thoughts and there in front of me was a small perfect iridescent blue feather.  Picking it up, I felt a lovely warm sensation come over me. My thoughts calmed, I felt happy.  I gratefully placed the feather in my pocket. The colours of the morning were suddenly brighter.

Tuesday is always Tuesday. Another walk with the dog along my familiar route. The grass was greener, perhaps because of the rain from Sunday night or perhaps because I felt good too. The dog stopped to sniff at another tree and there in front of me was another feather. This time it was red with a pink underside. While I looked closely at it, I felt a beautiful serenity, as if the world had been condensed and I was looking at it from far away. I gently put the feather in my pocket with the other one and made my way home. The dog happily following me.

Wednesday was similar to Tuesday. Another feather! This time a deep green, almost like a leaf laying there on the concrete pavement.  Picking that one up I felt overwhelming love for me, and for humanity. I humbly placed the feather in my pocket with the others and continued my day getting virtual hugs throughout.

Thursday, I went a different path. Yet there was a feather right in front of me.  A lovely long speckled thing, all creams, browns and golds. I picked it up in amazement.  Why were feathers presenting to me this way? What was I supposed to do? Was there a message here for me or someone close to me?  I put the feather in my pocket with a feeling of awe. That day, I was more aware of my surroundings, of people’s emotions and nuances in conversations.

Friday my walk was delayed but still a feather was found at my front door. White and black and wise it seemed to my astonished eyes. “Alright angels, Universe, Creator, whoever you are” I said.  “What is the message?”

Divination

A feather a day, keeps worry at bay. Makes the day brighter and lighter. Brings joy to heavy hearts and minds.  We made you look; you have already accepted the messages. The blue for gratitude, happiness and peace.  The red hues for serenity, and grace. The green for unconditional love. Did you not feel that deep within your bones?  You are loved so very much. The golden hues for ascension and activation. You wonder and feel more connected, yes? You have realised that there is more than just another day to get through, yes?  The white and black are indeed wise tones. They signify Spirit, knowledge and wisdom. These are our gifts to you, wonderful soul.  We remind you to fill your life with joy, passion and compassion.  To see beyond the physical, to understand how truly precious living is.
