EFT for Restful Sleep and Hormonal Harmony By Kaz Waters

Let’s talk about the kind of exhaustion that lavender sprays and magnesium just won’t fix.

The kind that creeps in when you’re juggling too many tabs, mentally and literally.
That wired-but-tired feeling.
The 3am wake-ups soaked in sweat.
The brain that decides 2.47am is the perfect time to solve every problem you’ve ever had.

Yep. Welcome to the perimenopause power hour.

Three months ago, I started a brand-new job. It’s a beautiful opportunity and I’m grateful for it, but the reality of working 10-hour days, being on-call, and trying to build a business that has had to quietly take the back seat? That kind of pressure builds. And this month, my body finally hit the wall.

The migraines I haven’t had in over seven years came back.
My skin broke down.
My jaw started to tighten — not just tension, but actual difficulty speaking. My tongue, my throat, even my breath, locked up.
It felt like my whole system was bracing. For what, I wasn’t even sure. I just knew I couldn’t keep going like this.

This wasn’t just stress. It was the accumulation of years of pushing through. Of holding it together. Of trying to do all the things for everyone else while my nervous system whispered, then begged, then screamed for relief.

The Hormone-Sleep Connection (and Why It Feels So Unfair)

During perimenopause, our hormonal rhythms fluctuate like a badly tuned radio. Oestrogen drops. Progesterone dips. Cortisol spikes. Add in modern stress and the whole system gets noisy.

This affects everything from temperature regulation (hello, sweaty sheets) to melatonin production and mood stability. Sleep becomes patchy, unpredictable, and less restorative. Which, let’s face it, is the last thing we need when we’re already running on emotional reserves.

EFT to the Rescue (Again)

EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, works by calming the stress response through gentle tapping on acupressure points. It soothes the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for fight or flight, and helps your body remember how to feel safe enough to rest.

For me, tapping at bedtime has become sacred.

I tapped on the pressure to do it all.
I tapped on the guilt for not getting it all done.
I tapped on the overwhelm of learning something new, showing up for others, and trying to stay regulated while hormones played pinball.
I tapped through the jaw tension, the shutdown, the part of me that wanted to scream but didn’t know how.

And slowly, my body started to soften again.

The night sweats eased.
My jaw released.
My nervous system finally got the memo. It’s safe to rest now.

Your Turn: What’s Keeping You Awake?

Whether it’s night sweats, anxiety, to-do list insomnia, or just feeling like your brain is stuck on hyperdrive, tapping can help. It brings your nervous system back to centre so your hormones can do their thing instead of playing hormonal hopscotch at 2am.

  • Tap before bed.
  • Tap when you wake up sweating or spiralling.
  • Tap when you’re carrying too much and can’t put it down.

Want a free EFT process to help regulate your nervous system and support deeper sleep?

Email me at support@kazwaters.com.au with the subject line Restful Sleep EFT.

Tell me what’s messing with your sleep right now. I’ll send you a calming, hormone-friendly tapping sequence that meets you where you are. Because good sleep isn’t a luxury. It’s medicine.

And so is softness.
So is space.
So is giving yourself permission to rest, even when the world says keep going.

Your body is wise. Your hormones are messengers.
Let’s stop fighting them and start listening.
