Full Moon Reflection and Release by Vikki Speller

A Simple Ritual for Clarity and Renewal

Have you ever noticed how the Full Moon seems to invite you to slow down and reflect upon your life?

For centuries, cultures around the world have observed the lunar cycle as a way of marking time, honouring nature’s rhythms, and reflecting on personal growth. Spiritually, the Full Moon is connected to the divine feminine and viewed as a point of illumination and release. It is the stage of the lunar cycle when the moon appears fully lit, symbolising completion, clarity, and awareness.

Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun, the Full Moon can encourage us to reflect on our own lives, offering us a reminder to pause long enough to acknowledge where we are. It invites us to focus inward and bring awareness to what still feels aligned and what we may have outgrown.

Each Full Moon I am drawn to the unique energy that it holds and the energetic gateway it provides, often heightening my intuition and illuminating areas of my life that would like my attention.

Many people find this a powerful time not only for self-reflection but also as an opportunity to let go. Pausing and creating intentional space allows us to notice what may have been sitting beneath the surface all along.

I often describe the Full Moon as a monthly opportunity to clear energetic and emotional clutter.

Just as we might declutter our homes, we can also gently release energy, thoughts, habits, beliefs, worries, or expectations that no longer serve us. The Full Moon is also a beautiful time to cleanse and recharge the crystals that support us on our journey.

One simple Full Moon ritual you can try at home is my Reflection and Release Ritual.

Step 1: Create Your Space

Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. You may like to light a candle, place a few crystals nearby, play soft music, or simply sit beneath the moonlight if possible. Take three slow breaths and allow yourself to arrive fully in the moment.

Step 2: Reflect

On a piece of paper, write down your answers to the following questions:

  • What is weighing on my heart right now?
  • What am I ready to release?
  • What would create more space, peace, or freedom in my life?

Write honestly and without judgment. Allow whatever needs to be expressed to flow onto the page.

Step 3: Release

Acknowledge what you have written with compassion. You may then safely burn the paper, mindfully tear it into small pieces, or place it into a bowl of water as a symbolic act of cleansing and release.

As you do, quietly say:

“I honour these experiences and release what no longer serves my highest good.”

Step 4: Receive

Place both hands over your heart and ask:

“What do I need more of moving forward?”

Allow the answer to arise naturally. It may be a word, a feeling, an image, or simply a sense of knowing. Write down whatever comes.

If you enjoy journaling, the Full Moon can also be a powerful time for deeper reflection. Here are three prompts I often share with women:

  1. What am I holding onto that is no longer supporting my journey?
  2. Where in my life am I being invited to trust myself more deeply?
  3. What strength, lesson, or growth can I acknowledge within myself this month?

These questions help shift our focus away from self-criticism and towards self-awareness, which is often where meaningful change begins.

One of the things I love most about working with the Full Moon is that it encourages us to honour our own rhythm. It offers us an invitation to listen, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves.

This is the intention behind my Full Moon Reflection & Release Women’s Circles. Through guided meditation, journaling, sound healing, oracle cards, mindful ritual, and supportive connection, women are given the opportunity to slow down, release what no longer feels aligned, and create space for what comes next.

Whether you choose to create your own ritual at home or join a circle in community, may the Full Moon remind you that letting go is often the very thing that creates space for new possibilities to enter.
