How to use crystal grids for abundance and protection by Jo Shipley

I had a big dilemma this weekend – paint my new house or ‘crystal grid’ it. As a crystal healer, it should have been a no-brainer. But with my ‘reno’ sporting a myriad of mismatched 1980’s pink, blue, and green walls – none of which are conducive for my colour therapy – my action-oriented subconscious wanted to start the painting.

But I knew that to create the harmony, balance of energies and the flow I wanted in my house, I had to do the prep work. Crystal gridding won out.

Of course, this meant a trip to the crystal shop – plus coffee and a few other very important side distractions – so there was no chance of any painting happening this weekend. But it did give me a chance to stop worrying about DIY, slow down, walk the ground, and really tune into the house’s energy vortexes, see how the water flows around the property, and connect-in with my new house.

Crystal grids are a powerful way to activate crystal energies and I use them in various ways with different crystals, depending on what I need at the time. Sacred geometry is the blueprint for most crystal grid formations because of the strong energy vortexes that the patterns create.

I am particularly drawn to use the six-pointed star formation (often known as the Star of David). I’m often guided to use its two interlocking equilateral triangles – one pointing up and one pointing down – to create a powerful yet harmonising, balancing energy vortex.

You can easily use the six-pointed star at home on a smaller scale to connect with and amplify crystal energy for whatever you need. I’m currently in the process of delivering a series of workshops on crystals, abundance, and sacred geometry – so every spare space in my house has been turned into a sacred space filled with grids as I implement what I teach!

A simple way to make a grid to activate the power of a crystal is to use six clear quartz terminator points (small, thin crystals with pointed ends). You’ll also need an anchor crystal – the one you want to tap into for its healing energy. For example try:

Citrine to create an abundance grid that supports you in attracting and receiving wealth and prosperity.
Black Tourmaline to transmute stuck or dormant negative energies in the body’s energy field – a great crystal for protection.

How to make a simple grid:

Create a sacred space with intention and invocation (on your altar works well).
Lay six clear quartz crystals in a circle on the points of the star with the terminator points facing inward (imagine a clock face with the quartz ends pointing toward the centre positioned at 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10).
Place your anchor crystal in the centre (tumble stones are good for this).
Call in the power of the golden light, and visualize earth energies flowing from the Cosmos into Mother Earth, connecting you and your grid to the universal energy flow, grounding the energies into the earth.
Set your mind with your intention.
Activate the grid by using a quartz point or laser wand to trace the energy flow from the points in and out of the centre crystal, visualising lines connecting all the crystals with energies streaming out of the central crystal, spiralling upward.
You can also use sound and voice with intention to further activate and integrate the grid’s energies. Adding other crystals, herbs, and flowers in a mandala formation can enhance the synergistic energies further.
The energy vortex will amplify the healing energy of the crystals and will remain activated until it is moved.
