Marion HuttonWelcome to 2022! We made it through another challenging year where our hearts, minds and souls were tested. The pass mark? A commitment to honouring and materialising our Divine purpose. Whatever this means to you is what will set the foundation for the year ahead. You may have audacious plans, you may have more humble ones, it does not matter. What matters is your heart is happy with how you are spending your time, energy and resources. This is what the three Saturn-Uranus squares of last year have awakened within us – an appreciation of what’s truly important to our human experience.
Numerologically, this year we are in the vibration of the number six, which is all about commitment to family, community and soul love. This year, when we take our responsibilities to each other seriously, we win the soul lottery! Caring, kindness and sharing treasured moments are the golden threads of the human tapestry we will weave together in 2022. How perfect is that after the past two years of isolation?! Many of us will be questioning how long we can stay in work or relationships that no longer nourish us emotionally. How we nourish ourselves on a physical level is also significant this year, as is our relationship to our intuitive selves. This year we will learn to implicitly trust our inner guidance system above all else. It will guide us with unwavering confidence and peace.
Astrologically, we begin this year with Venus still retrograde in Capricorn. We are reassessing, re-evaluating and resetting our goals to those that are aligned to the highest expression of our Divine gifts and talents. Sound familiar? It’s no coincidence this transit is occurring now as many of us question the real value of our aspirations and the definition of success. Pluto in the mix will always lead us to the truth, so remain true to your measure of success, not anyone else’s, and you will set your year up with a sound basis from which to build. The Sun’s supportive aspect to Uranus on the 1st accents this feeling of needing to be our most authentic selves, including in relationships. As Venus is retrograde for nearly the entire month, make sure you are seeing new relationships through a realistic lens and not making excuses for behaviour that is actually a red flag. By all means enjoy, but be discerning and make sure you’re not giving away pieces of your soul in the process. If there is a solid foundation, you will be able to move forward with greater confidence in February, provided it stands the authenticity test.
On 2nd January, Mercury enters Aquarius creating a stream of ideas and inspiration about how we can contribute to our communities, whether family or other groups. Some of us may find ourselves speaking at group or community events with words of collective hope and healing to aid our awakening. Mid-month, Mercury begins the first of its retrograde phases, back through Aquarius and into Capricorn again. This period allows us the time and space to ground our ideas into physical form, to take steps, no matter how small, to create the foundation for how we want to be regarded within our soul groups and communities going forward. By the time Mercury re-enters Aquarius in mid-February, we could find ourselves moving in different circles, allowing us to express ourselves more authentically with people who appreciate our unique qualities. With the Sun entering Aquarius on 20th January, we are energised to connect with others as a team to bounce ideas and synergise individual skills and talents to achieve a collective outcome.
Mars squares Neptune on 11th January, bringing focus and direction to our Divine purpose with an injection of confidence and bravery. If you’re feeling lost or confused about your path in life, this period will feel awkward and conflicted. Take it as a gift, feel into it, and try to understand where it is sitting in your body and the messages the universe has for you. They come in whispers, so it’s best to be silent and listen avidly. And don’t worry, Neptune is nothing if not compassionate, so you’ll get other chances to progress your path, as the universe is always working for us, never against. If you’re ready to take the next step along your path, this transit will highlight where you need to overcome inertia by being fearless.
Jupiter begins the year fresh in Pisces having moved into the sign of unseen realms, compassion and oneness in late December. From now until May, when Jupiter changes signs, we have an opportunity to expand and explore our inner world of soul feeling, Divine creativity and pure imagination. Think Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory! This is a time of building confidence and faith in the intangible, spiritual and cosmic forces of universal laws. With this transit, we not only have a front row seat to the show, we have backstage passes to meet the cast and crew! In other words, we are able to experience our own soul having a human experience and open up a direct with the Divine. It’s a magical time of progressing our soul’s evolutionary path through experience of forces that are always working for our highest good. The ‘dark’ aspect of this transit is a tendency to escapist and addictive behaviours which to avoid big feelings arising from pain and trauma which are yet to be released from the body. If you are ready to shift, this transit will provide greater awareness and intuitive solutions for healing. Jupiter in Pisces also boosts all forms of artistic expression and cracks open our hearts to receiving and giving unconditional love.
Our lovely Luna is new at 12 Capricorn on 3rd January. This Moon gives us an emotional boost to work with commitment and purpose toward our creative goals. It’s a wonderful Moon in which to plant our soul seeds for future manifestation and set a growth cycle in motion. This is about our long-term desires and ambitions coming to life and by the time of the Full Moon at 27 Cancer on the 18th we may see some of these seeds starting to sprout, with the mid-point in July showing us blossom, while the same period next year will bear the fruit we have dreamed of for so long.
