Heavenly droplets flit against cloudy skies,
behavior lies in blasted consciousness
while we troop merrily against our wills
through tightly taped-up window sills
on fallen arches and expressions
of our darkest, deep depressions,
Gruesome promises prevail,
but to no avail you beat
against the fluttered walls,
falling up the tortured path,
step aside and smirk and laugh
without mirth at the difficult birth
of yourself,
Don’t pause to think or wait or preach,
just teach to all within your reach,
Don’t stop to study even more,
step your foot through the wide-flung door,
Explode, break out of the dotted lines,
follow something more sublime,
Responsibility falls behind,
never was it right or kind to hold your life
in black-edged borders,
Managing dates and tricky times,
you wrote up reams of distraught rhymes,
“After this and after that, then I’ll feel a lot less flat,
After I’ve accomplished X, then Y will follow,
and no more hex will hold me to the hollow path,”
But laugh, fool, laugh, for you wait too long
before you sing your vibrant song,
Responsibility is the word you heard
in thousands of ways for all your days,
But now it resonates no more
it’s not who you are at your core,
Evacuate, now, the slithering ship
and give your demon self the slip,
spend hours a day in upstart mode
shrugging off your long-held load,
Responsibility is the divine prerogative,
so, you, stop being so bloody cognitive,
raise yourself above the bed
where you lay and bang your too full head,
flustered with pain-brain syndrome,
Roam beyond the sultry shores of yesterday,
make a better place to stay,
take off the fruitless floundering shades,
reappear with all new-mades
floating in your horizons,
Surprise yourself, …. surprise yourself,
Falling off the wagon, taking yourself lightly,
climbing star-ways high and brightly,
sprinkling star-seeds wide and calling
to the unctuous urchins following,
“Take off your blinders!”
Myriad possibilities exist
when we have kissed goodbye
the evil eye of Over-Responsibility,
Ponderous suffering expires,
we trek into lofty realms and spires
of creation shooting up like drifting comets,
You’ll look back one day and see
Responsibility expired like a worn-out cat,
It hit the wall and fell down--splat,
Creativity took off like a rocket blast
beyond the bordered, bludgeoned past.
