Sitting on the barge as I leave Moreton Island feeling a little sad as I head back home. Not sad to be going home but sad that the adventures I’ve had on the island have come to an end for now. Back to the routine of life and the everyday. Reflecting on this time away has showed me how stressed I’ve become and how I have allowed events in my life to overwhelm me and consume me. Leaving little space for fun, joy and even feeling into how I am. Having shut myself down to feel numb so I could just keep going and get through it all. Such an old pattern for me in coping from doing this most of my life. These days I recognise the habits and patterns faster and can shift and move through it all quicker. When I check in with myself, I see if there is any attachment to these events, emotions or if it is an old survival coping tool. I see all of this as such a gift to show me how much I have changed and who I am being now. Who I have become thanks to the lessons and gifts along life’s journey.
My island adventures were filled with many gifts that reminded me of the ease and simplicity that life can be if we allow it. As we left the mainland I could feel the joy in my heart start to come forth, seeing the clear waters, blue skies and being present in that moment. Looking across the ocean a feeling of peace started to wrap itself around me. Allowing the stressors of life to fade away.
As we docked on the island, got off the barge and started driving up the beach, you could feel the energy of the place, the warmth as it invited you to let go and relax. Looking across the ocean at the mainland, it felt like you were anywhere in the world and there was no one around. I allowed myself to melt into the peace and love that surrounded me.
My first morning as I sat enjoying my cuppa, a beautiful rainbow appeared right in front of me. I could almost reach out and touch it. I could see both ends of the rainbow, so much beauty and depth of colour. A second rainbow appeared ever so slightly and it stayed there until it was time to leave for the days as adventures.
We spent the day 4WD many tracks, visited the lighthouse and saw another rainbow and a whale. Moreton Island was certainly showing me all the beauty on offer and reminding me to stop, pause, breathe and let go and enjoy life. Next adventure was fishing, yes I fished. Well I held the fishing rod and caught three whiting fish. Have to say it made me smile and I felt like a kid again.
As the evening approached another rainbow showed itself. The sunset behind the clouds and shared a little bit of colour as we headed back for dinner. Time then to head for the beach and enjoy the evening watching the cruise ships with all their lights shiny to see, planes flying in and out of the airport, stars twinkling in the sky and enjoying being away from the hustle and bustle. Deep breathes and enjoying being in that moment. Beautiful memories created and stored in my heart.
During the whole day I saw rainbows throughout the day. What is it with rainbows that bring a smile to my face and lighten my heart? So much beauty to see. I got curious and looked up the meaning when rainbows appear. Here is one explanation as there were many but all said similar things.
Meaning of seeing rainbows: rainbows are almost universally seen as symbols of good luck and positive energy. They’re often associated with prosperity, blessings and spiritual guidance. The appearance of a rainbow might feel like a sign that you’re on the right path or that the universe is supporting you.
Yes Universe, I received your message with all my heart. Thank you for showing me that I am on the right path. I am listening.
Life can get full and we can get so caught up with it that we forget to stop, breathe and pause to look and see the gifts we are being shown. These gifts are messages given to us to show us where we are at. Are you paying attention? Are you taking the time to look and see the gifts that surround you? Now is the time to look. Take time now for yourself and see the gifts that you are being shown. They are there.
