Overwhelm. It seems to be the theme of the week – that feeling of being completely paralysed, unable to think clearly, see a way forward, or even believe there is a way out. It’s like everything is piling up at once, and the more you try to regain control, the more chaotic things become.
Sound familiar?
It’s that tricky law of attraction loop working against you – where stress and negativity feed each other, making it almost impossible to shift your negative thoughts to something lighter and better. Before you know it, it feels like the whole universe is conspiring against you.
Riding the Overwhelm Wave
Right now, I’m in the throes of buying a house, trying to stop it from turning into a wild, worrying ride. I’ve been waking up at 3am, adrenaline pumping, my mind running through an endless list of worries: the costs, the packing, the moving to-do list—on top of the normal to-do list. No matter how much I try to quiet and redirect my thoughts to something better, they just keep circling back.
And then, as if on cue, two friends showed up – both completely overwhelmed in their own lives, barely holding it together. Their stress was palpable, and suddenly, I saw myself reflected in them. It was as if the universe was holding up a giant flashing sign:
“Shipley! Take a breath. Shift your energy. You can’t think your way out of this -only calm your way through it.”
Finding the Way Back to Calm
When you’re overwhelmed – especially by the big stuff like money, relationships, or health – it feels impossible to just ‘relax and calm down.’ Nothing in your immediate reality has changed, so how can you possibly feel – or think – any differently?
I was deep in that spiral when my good friend, an energy healer, stepped in.
“STOP,” she said. “Lie down. Get on the table.”
And so I did.
She worked through my energy field, clearing energetic blocks I didn’t even know I had, allowing my energy to flow freely. And the next day? Everything felt different. The to-do list was still there. The house still needed packing. It was still very expensive. But the panic was gone. My mind had stopped spinning, and I could finally think clearly. I was out of the vicious cycle of negative thoughts.
