Princess Elierse of Erse could not fathom why it was expected she take up the fight for the family honour. Generations of Erse and Mangoten had fought each other in duels for reasons lost to antiquity. Each duel was registered in the archives of the Carselusthen Library. Elierse went there to find the original document.
With some trepidation, she read the declaration of war between the original fighters, one from Erse and one from Mangoten. A bejewelled knife of Erse had been lost at a celebration. There seemed no evidence that the knife was stolen by Mangoten, but a feud had ensued anyway.
A wave of hope washed over Elierse. The families of Erse and Mangoten urgently needed to meet. The scroll was shown to both clans and there were arguments about its authenticity and meaning. Elierse almost despaired that there would never be a truce. Yet, eventually, the war was laid to rest and the Carselusthen Library closed the doors on the archive room, sealed in forgiveness.
Divination
You have been reflecting too much on the past. These stories are looked at over and over, stirring up emotions that no longer serve anyone. Old memories can be distorted with new interpretations, thus changing our perception of what really happened. It is time to leave it where it should stay – in history. If remembering the past, look at it fondly and with joy, then enjoy the day you are living now, for the current day is the most important in your life.
