I am not my behaviours by Davina Herbert

I have recently taken up some different creative projects like painting and needlework.  It has been a few years since I did either of these activities.  My skills are coming back to me, but I have been a bit rusty at a couple of things – like being able to thread the needle in under 5 hours.  Seriously, it did take me that long, but it wasn’t going smoothly.   I had a lot of mental chatter about how I couldn’t do it and should just give up.  Then my beautiful little De Brucski entered into this cocktail of frustration and negative talk.  De Brucski takes his job of protecting me very seriously.  He likes to bark in the evenings to alert me to what local wildlife is moving around outside.  Normally this is not a problem, but when I was already frustrated and cranky, it was just too much.  So instead of checking to see what was happening, like I normally do, I got upset at him.  When I calmed down, I was ashamed of my behaviour and apologised to him.  De Brucksi was just doing his job and looking after me and his sisters.  I started to question myself and reflect about why I had gotten so upset and behaved differently to normal.  My realisation was that I was really upset with myself and my negative self-talk.

When your animals ‘behave’ badly if you take a step back from all the emotions, you can see the bigger picture of what is really going on for them – and you.  Your animals are more than their behaviours.  If they are acting up, then there is something that they wish to communicate to you.  De Brucski is such a wonderful being.  Whilst he can get cranky (usually with his younger sister), that is a behaviour at a moment in time.  At the core of his being, he is love in a beautiful doggy body.    So, the next time your beloved animal companions behave in a way that is not loving, I invite you to remember that you are both more than that passing moment in time.  Don’t lock in the belief that you animal companions are naughty.  Ask questions of yourself and them and see what new possibilities can open up for you both.

It can be emotionally challenging to look at why your relationships are the way that they are.  That’s when it’s beneficial to have a session with an animal communicator.  As an impartial observer, I help you to gain insight and understanding as to why your beloved animal companion is acting/ behaving in a certain way.  I work with both you and your animal companions in a safe space to support both of you to have a more harmonious future.  The only thing that you need to do is take action and reach out.

You and your animals are more than your behaviours.  I see you and your animal companions and the greatness that you be!
