Summer is here and we’re drawn outside to feel the warmth of the great energy ball in the sky on our skin. It’s also time to come out with your business events, courses, training and networking.
Your community members are filling their calendars and you want to make sure you’re part of that plan.
Make it easy for them to do business with you online.
There are seasonal and quarterly activities we do as a business owner, so align what you deliver with the natural energy flow. It’ll work better for you and for your audience because you’ll meet them where they are at.
By actively showing up on your Social Channels for organic marketing, when you get seen, you remain top of mind to that person. You may also then be the go-to person for them, when they have a need for your services. Next month I’ll touch on ‘buyer readiness’ but you want to target more than the top 3% who’re ready to buy now! There’s 70% of the market sitting there wondering where you are with the solution they need.
So, while you need to be active on Social media, you also must be active directly to each person in the inbox. Email marketing is still one of the top 3 marketing tactics to use. You own your list, you don’t own the social channels. To build your own list is important, to then email them is important – or that list goes cold and your time, effort and energy is wasted.
Not all your audience is active on Facebook and gets shown your posts.
Sometimes it’s three days minimum before your post shows up. I tested this theory with a post requesting they say how long it took to show them. It also validated that not everyone who sees my posts, engages with them.
- Did they actually see it out of the billions of posts pushed through the FB algorithm
- Did the lack of engagement point to a lack of relevance to the end user (sorry there was no cats or cute kittens involved this time)
How many of your community are not seeing your social posts because they’re not active on Facebook. Or is it your belief that it’s up to them to follow you around like a lost puppy?
I work with empowered, confident coaches who don’t often have time to scroll on Facebook, so my email nurture component in my business is important. It’s how I can deliver my message on a regular and consistent basis. Just because I miss one of your posts, lives or haven’t chased you, doesn’t mean I’m not interested, it’s possibly because you’re not reaching me or telling me where I can reach you (if I remember you and you haven’t sent me reminders).
Now, it’s kinda obvious, to grow your business, you have to be seen. You need to do marketing, make sales and deliver the services or product.
Perhaps your intention while reading this is to expose yourself more, to be seen, to be known for what you do. One way to do this is to attend regular networking events to connect with like-minded business owners. You might meet potential customers too.
- How comfortable are you connecting? (not too bad, you just show up, talk and exchange business cards or a brochure)
- What about the follow-up after the event? What do you do with those business cards?
This is where many fail!
Those business cards sit in your drawer, and you don’t connect and follow-up, because you’re busy chasing new leads… (hahmm clears throat) Let me ask you this… “when you give your business information out, is it to engage in further conversations?”
Ummm yesssss, I value my time, so if I say contact me, it means I want to know more, I want to spend money with you if I like what you do, and it meets my current needs.
This leads me to an important point to make…
F.E.A.R.
We’ve all had a relationship with this emotion at some point. Once upon a time I was terrified to send emails.
- They don’t want to hear from me
- What will I write about
- I don’t want to annoy people
- What if they don’t like it
- I don’t have time
- I don’t know how to do it
- I hate emails and on the list goes
WHAT IF… you had 5 new prospects hanging to hear from you, to find out what your offer is but they’ve reached ‘chase you fatigue’ and they’ve put you in the too hard basket or taken it that now’s not the right time. Is it a sign you’re not meant to be doing that thing because it didn’t align with grace and ease, or was it because the ‘mentor’ you seek has crappy backstage systems and you get crickets for your efforts. This business is clearly not using business operating success systems and are too busy managing all they do.
If only they would take that extra step for you, to make it easier for you to do business online.
This is my experience often, I can tolerate a little bit of clunky systems, but a lack of systems due to ignorance of ‘I don’t have time, it’s not for me, too confusing… is that also saying, “I don’t want your money” hmm what else do you avoid and how will it affect me if I choose to do business with you?
Growing your business means building a community and marketing to them. When a person wants to consume your services it’s your job to make it easy for them, to delight them. This leads to pleasant feelings.
Like any good patient, we seek out a specialist to get a diagnosis and so a treatment plan can be formulated.
