“Life happens for you, not to you, your soul chose to experience this, it’s Karma.“
I’m sure you’ve heard a million of these quotes and more to the effect that we are the ones creating or attracting the perceived chaos in our lives. It’s a jagged little pill to swallow…but, it’s true.
Our human nature can be so incredibly aligned to the familiar that it will attract to it time and time again the same people, lessons and situations because it feels safe and predictable in some way. Illogical I know, especially when we look at cycles of abuse or toxicity, but we are indeed human and believe it or not, it’s a blessing in disguise.
When we find ourselves in repetitive patterns; attracting the same type of boss, the same toxic relationships, the same money issues, it’s a clear sign that the subconscious mind is in charge. The belief systems that were often formed in childhood from a child’s perspective are running the show. Our higher mind has taken a back seat to allow us time to understand the lesson, or should I say gift that we didn’t acquire the first time round. And these patterns are not going to stop until you do and more so take full ownership of your contribution to the chaos.
How do we recognise these patterns? Well, ask yourself – does this suck? If yes, then there is likely some divine wisdom that has yet to be integrated. “But I didn’t do that, or my boss is so mean, or she keeps degrading me.” All that may be true but how are you contributing to these cycles? You are agreeing to play a role on some level. That’s the part we are looking to change – your contribution. Take responsibility for that and you have instant access to the guidance of the higher mind once again.
Taking responsibility is almost a waterboarded concept in spiritual practice, but that’s simply because it works. All of those denied aspects within ourselves, are causing the misalignment of our truth and we get jumbled in our thoughts and perspectives on any situation.
It’s best to start with the part of you that would believe that being treated poorly would be serving you. When was this belief created? Who else was involved? If we go back to the first moment of inception, find the emotion clutching on to it and see how it has been serving you throughout your life, you have your wisdom.
To integrate, take back that aspect of you that was lost in the moment. Take responsibility for how that denied aspect expressed itself in order to receive love. Take ownership of participating in someone else’s denied aspect expression.
Acceptance will balance out your energy and ease the burden of confusion. Integration will release you from the cycle and re-establish your connection with the higher mind and the divine current that brings ease back into your life.
When you are on the precipice of change, however, some old patterns and belief systems can rear their incessant heads. Don’t worry. They’re just checking to see if you are truly done with them. Scratching at the doorway of your mind to be let back in from the cold. The scratching will soon subside, and you will be free to continue onto the next drama, I mean, gift.
