Statistics state that one in five people (1 in 5) are suffering emotional ‘unwellness’ which covers a spectrum of emotions.  Today, I want to discuss ANGER and RESENTMENT as it is well known that these two emotional states of being are harmful to your mental and physical health.

If you are harboring resentment towards a person, persons or a race of people and do not want to feel these feelings to continue because you know and understand that they rob you of energy, make you feel overwhelmed and is detrimental to both your physical and emotional health.  Then I would encourage you to try the exercise outlined below.  

Before you start this exercise, I would encourage you to find a piece of paper as well as a pen and write down who you are harbouring these feelings towards and WHY you are harbouring these feelings.  Be concise and clear in what your write down, read what you have written down then undertake the exercise as outlined below:


Sit down in a comfortable position, take several deep breaths in and out – breathing in for the count of 3, holding your breath for a count of 3 and then breathing out for 3, if you can manage to breath for 4 hold for the count of 4 and let go for the count of 4 then do that.

Continue this breath exercise until you feel fully relaxed, then I want you to imagine that you have 3 buttons beside your dominant hand.  One of these buttons is Stop, one is pause and the other is go.

imagine a screen or television set in front of you, focus on this blank screen, press the  start or go button  and see the individual or individuals walking into the center of the screen, imagine them looking around confused, then imagine a spotlight shining down on the person or persons, while you are looking at them imagine, then shrinking, getting smaller and smaller and smaller still, until they are so small like the size of an ant, see them in the small size, looking up at you at a monstrous size…………..think of who now holds the power over the other.  Feel the feeling of having the strength, of you being in control, now turn up the emotional dial of the feeling you feel e.g. powerful.  Allow this feeling to penetrate your entire being.  Feel the feelings of power, bathe in these feelings, then feel the feelings of peace and contentment bathing in those emotions too until you actually feel them within your body and soul.

 You may need to do this several times.
