New Financial Year, New You: Is It Time to Let Go? By Kristy Burnett

As we welcome a new financial year, many of us find ourselves reflecting on the months that have passed. We carry the pressure of deadlines, family responsibilities, rising living costs, and the constant demands of modern life. It’s no surprise that we often hear phrases like “I’m holding onto so much” or “I just need to let it go.”

Perhaps there’s more truth in those sayings than we realise.

Stress doesn’t just affect our mind—it can influence our entire digestive system. When we’re constantly in “fight or flight” mode, our body’s natural digestive processes can slow down, leaving many people feeling bloated, sluggish or simply not quite themselves.

Here’s something worth asking yourself: How often are you actually opening your bowels?

For most people, healthy bowel function should occur at least once a day. Yet many Australians don’t pay much attention to their bowel habits until something feels wrong. Irregular bowel movements can become so common that they begin to feel “normal,” when in reality they may be a sign your digestive system needs a little extra support.

This is where colon hydrotherapy may help.

Colon hydrotherapy is a gentle, therapist-guided treatment that uses warm, filtered water to assist in hydrating and softening waste within the large intestine while supporting the body’s natural elimination process. The treatment is designed to help clear the elimination pathway, allowing the colon to function more efficiently as part of the body’s natural detoxification systems.

Many clients choose colon hydrotherapy during times of increased stress, after periods of poor eating habits, travel, illness or simply when they feel their digestion isn’t working as well as it could. They often report feeling lighter, less bloated and more comfortable afterwards, although individual experiences will vary.

Of course, colon hydrotherapy isn’t a replacement for the foundations of good health. A fibre-rich diet, adequate hydration, regular movement, quality sleep and stress management all play an important role in supporting digestive wellbeing. Colon hydrotherapy works best as part of a holistic approach to caring for your body.

As you step into this new financial year, perhaps it’s also an opportunity to check in with your health. Rather than only focusing on financial goals, consider asking yourself a few simple questions:

  • Am I drinking enough water?
  • Am I nourishing my body with enough fibre?
  • Am I managing my stress?
  • Am I opening my bowels every day?

Sometimes moving forward starts with letting go—physically as well as emotionally.

After all, your gut is often one of the first places your body tells you it needs a little more care.
