The First Step to Flourishing: Know Your Clairs, Follow Your Soul By Peta-Ann Wood

Have you been gaslighting your intuition?

We’ve all been taught to hush the hunches. To doubt the goosebumps. To override our knowing to fit in. But what if your soul nudges were divine breadcrumbs?

Following your intuition isn’t always crystal grids and highlight reels. It’s messy. Isolating. And yes, sometimes achingly hard. But it’s also beautiful. Choosing to stand in your light is an act of rebellious reclamation. And intuition? It’s your compass.

To follow your soul’s nudges, you must first learn their language—your Clairs. These intuitive senses speak through feelings, visuals, knowings and sounds. Because if you’re anything like me, ignoring those whispers doesn’t make them go away. It makes them louder.

My soul used a megaphone. A breast cancer diagnosis at 45, my partner disappearing at 52, discovering my neurodivergence at 54, culminating in a procrastination spiral and financial chaos, which led to selling my home. My soul screamed: You’ve sidelined yourself in your own story.

Cue the rewrite.

The Clairs are more than mystical jargon. They’re the language of your inner knowing. The four most people begin with, are: Clairvoyance (clear seeing), Clairaudience (clear hearing), Clairsentience (clear feeling/sensing) and Claircognisance (clear knowing). Others include Clairalience, Clairgustance, and Clairtangency, but start where the energy pulls. For me, Claircognisance and Clairaudience lead the charge.

Clairs are the non-negotiable starting point for treating your inner knowing like the all-sensing Goddess she is, instead of second guessing her.

Identifying your strongest Clair is like tuning into your soul’s frequency. You stop floundering and start flourishing. Whether you’re meditating or stuck in a fluorescent-lit cubicle, your soul always knows how to reach you.

During my breast cancer treatment, my Clairaudience showed up cheekily. As I headed to hospital for my bilateral mastectomy, Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass played unexpectedly. Not exactly a spiritual anthem, but the lyrics, ‘Every inch of you is perfect…’ cracked me up. Post-surgery, the same song greeted me as I was leaving hospital. I giggled. The very next tune was Five’s Keep on Movin’. The words ‘I woke up today with this feeling, that better things are coming my way…’ matched the post-surgery peace I felt. My soul wasn’t whispering—it was belting out a soundtrack.

And I listened. I didn’t override it or label it imaginary. That nudge was the first of many which led me to go flat post-mastectomy and embrace my worth outside societal norms.

Trusting your Clairs takes daily intention to hear soul whispers above the overthinking static. Start small. Journal your nudges. Did you hear something meaningful out of nowhere (clairaudience)? Did you just know something before it happened (claircognisance)? You’re not imagining magic—you’re reclaiming it.

Your soul speaks, always. It always knows your truth. The question is: Are you tuned in or are you intentionally dismissing it?

So, here’s your invitation. Know your Clairs. Follow your nudges. Allow yourself to take up space and be the star. Our world doesn’t need more people silencing their intuition for the sake of fitting in. When you trust your Clairs, you’re remembering how to be elegantly, rebelliously, unapologetically YOU. Your sequel is waiting to be written.
