The Original Wound: Healing the Root of Abandonment by Christine Maudy

Whatever brings a client to my door—be it Soul Regression, Shamanic healing, or Reiki—we almost always find ourselves traveling back to the same place: the root cause.

We look for the moment life was “derailed.” Until the Original Wound is fully understood and integrated, it acts like an invisible script, surfacing in different costumes throughout our lives until we finally address the source.

The Invisible Trauma

One of the deepest, yet least acknowledged, traumas is abandonment. It wears many masks: the literal loss of a parent, the transition of adoption, or the subtle but searing neglect of parents unable to provide the care and protection a child requires.

In his book Proof of Heaven, neurosurgeon Eben Alexander shares a profound example. Adopted at birth, he believed he had “dealt” with his abandonment. Yet, decades later, a simple request from his son forced him to revisit that buried pain. When he discovered his biological parents had reunited and raised other children, the shock reignited his trauma so fiercely that his brain literally shut down.

In my own practice, I’ve seen this “brain collapse” firsthand. I met a woman who ignored repeated abandonment traumas for years. Eventually, the pressure became too much; her brain “short-circuited,” leading to two months of unexplained seizures and years of lost memory.

The saying is true: The body keeps the score.

Recognising the Signs

Unaddressed abandonment trauma often manifests as:

  • Emotional Instability: A constant sense of being on “shaky ground.”
  • The Commitment Loop: A fear of intimacy that creates a “push-pull” dynamic in relationships.
  • Hyper-Vigilance: Living in a permanent state of “fight or flight”.

Ironically, the fear of being left often attracts partners who mirror that unworthiness, reinforcing the old story. I have even seen this trauma manifest physically; some women abandoned in childhood find themselves unable to conceive, as the subconscious fear of passing on that “original pain” creates a biological block.

From Victim to Hero

During my own journey of healing childhood trauma, I was fortunate to find the modalities and mentors that transformed my life. For the past 15 years, I have acted as a conduit for others, developing tools to help them regain their power.

It takes immense courage to confront the past, but the reward is absolute clarity. I eventually realised that my deepest childhood wound was a gift in disguise. It provided the map I now use to guide others through their own sacred transitions.

We all have a choice: we can carry the burden of the past as a weight or use it as a stepping stone. We can remain a victim or choose to become the hero of our own story. The power to change the narrative is already within you.

A moment of reflection:  If you look closely at repeating patterns in your life today, what is the original wound trying to tell you? Is it time to stop running from the pain and start listening to the wisdom it holds?

Ready to change the story? If you are ready to reclaim your power, I invite you to join my Mentoring Program. Together, we will travel back to the root cause, clear it, and help you step into your role as the hero of your own life.
