Tigers in the inbox: how modern stress is frying your nervous system

by Nate Mico

If you’ve ever closed a meditation app, opened Instagram instead, and still felt tight in your chest, this is for you. Our nervous systems are doing their best in a world filled with modern tigers — threats we weren’t built to face so often.

Most of us grew up hearing that stress was about big moments like a death in the family, a job loss, an exam. Now it’s constant and low-level. A slow drip. Notifications pinging. Headlines rolling. Trying to be a good friend, parent, partner, worker, and still remembering to drink water and stretch.

Your nervous system was designed for short bursts of danger followed by real rest. Run from the tiger. Hide. Shake it off. Graze.

But today’s tigers wear modern masks. A tight deadline. A tense conversation. A bill arriving late at night. Your body still registers threat, even when the moment seems safe — like standing in Woolies trying to choose a loaf of bread. You might look calm, but inside, your system is already bracing for the next thing.

So yes, meditation apps and breathwork help, but sometimes they only touch the surface. You might feel lighter for a little while, then the tigers return. It’s not that you’re doing anything wrong. Your system is just overloaded.

That’s where energy healing comes in.

Modalities like Pellowah and the Umana Technique work not just with your thoughts or your body, but your entire energy field — the space your nervous system lives inside. They are both a “battery recharge for the soul”.

When your field shifts, the patterns inside it begin to change too.

Clients often come to me when they’re tired of managing symptoms and want a deeper reset. They don’t always have the words for it. They just know they can’t keep running on empty.

You are not broken. You’re simply overstimulated. Fried. Trying to soothe a wild system with tools that don’t always reach the root.

You already speak energy. You just don’t call it that.

You feel the vibe in a room. Think of a friend, and they message you. Say you’re drained after being around certain people. Your body leans toward some and shrinks away from others. That’s your energy field talking.

You’re already reading energy. Every moment. Every space. Every conversation.

And that’s the language energy healing speaks — sensation, expansion, contraction, quiet knowing. It meets you where you already live, before logic, before words.

If your tigers are stacking up and your nervous system is stuck in survival mode, maybe it’s time to stop managing and start shifting the field itself.

Your energy knows. Trust the nudge.

Let it be light.
