Maybe it was the frenetic energy of editing deadlines and summits, but when I sat down to write this month’s column, I swear I had 47 ideas all swirling at once and no idea where to start.
Just staring at the blank page, tapping my pen, hoping one idea would land. Yes, I write my first draft long‑hand — it’s how I connect with what I’m creating. And that thought of connection became my moment of clarity in the chaos.
Most people think writing begins with a blank page.
But for soul‑led, intuitive writers, it begins long before the words appear. It begins in the body. In the breath. In that quiet, betwixt‑and‑between space where truth stirs.
For years, I thought my idea‑storming was a flaw. I followed the style guides and wrote how I was supposed to write. It wasn’t until much later — after a breast cancer diagnosis, a later‑in‑life neurodivergent discovery and decades in high‑pressure communication roles — I realised something profound.
Chaos isn’t the problem. Disconnection is. Chaos is just energy waiting to be shaped.
When we’re disconnected from our inner compass — our Clairs, our body wisdom, our soul nudges — writing becomes arduous. We push. We force. We try to ‘sound right’. We shrink to fit someone else’s template.
But when we reconnect to our inner knowing, writing simply flows.
My soul‑led decision-making process — Sense, Follow, Inspired Action — is how I find my clarity, when the 47 ideas are swirling. Three steps to reshape the chaos and begin writing from my inner knowing.
Step One: Sensing — Return to Yourself
Clarity begins with sensing.
Take the time to notice the subtle ways your soul already speaks to you: your breath, your body, your Clairs. These aren’t external, mystical forces — they’re your internal compass.
And when you’re able to recognise your way of sensing — whether it’s the expansion or contraction of your Soul Yes and Soul No, or the Clair flashes, symbols and whispers — writing stops feeling like guesswork and starts feeling like guidance.
Step Two: Following — Trust the Nudge
Following is where most writers wobble. Not because we lack intuition, but because we’ve been conditioned to override it.
Following is the moment we choose knowing over rules. It’s when we trust the spark, the image, the phrase, the idea that won’t leave us alone.
Following is our soul’s truth in motion — the bridge between sensing and creating.
Step Three: Inspired Action — Creating with Intention
Inspired action isn’t hustle. Its alignment.
It’s writing from a grounded, centred place where our nervous system feels safe enough to let our voice come through. It’s choosing the project that says Yes and lights you up — not the one you think you should create.
Inspired action is where our soul meets the page, and we create freely.
Your Next Step
So if you’re ready to turn those 47 swirling ideas into grounded clarity, my gift to you is the Soul Clarity Compass — a gentle guide back to yourself and the first step toward writing your unapologetic truth.
Your voice is ready. It’s time to be bold. To be you and unmask your magic.
