I am not a huge fan of ‘New Year, New You’, as it doesn’t need to take a new year to do what the heck you want to do. I do love a little review though and thinking forward to what you want to achieve.

So here is my little review process for you, if you have become an author this year and if it is a possible goal for next year….

If you have Author as a title already…WOOOOOOO give yourself a pat on the back!!!! It takes guts, determination and a whole lot of trust to get this far, so make sure you celebrate the absolute heck out of that!

So many have the wish to do this and you’ve freaking done it!!!!

Now that you have done that part… I want you to get really honest with yourself.

Where you could possibly improve on, what you are/are not doing. The list can go on, but I want you to really ground yourself into your body and soul and also into the project you are contemplating on. Here are some prompts to get you started;

• How is this project feeling to me – light/ fun/ excited or is there some murky patches I need to work through? This could be because you are hiding a little, because maybe you aren’t sure it is perfect/ the best etc. See what it is saying to you.

And work out what is ego driving you to feel this way – not good enough etc or whether it is the actual book/card/journal/ebook that is feeling a bit meh.

• Have I allowed myself to go all in on my marketing or do I keep forgetting about it and just hoping it will be found? I GET IT. I am absolutely putting my hand up for this one too. It is out there so therefore the right people will find it right, without me having to do a thing? And while yes this can be true, we also need to lovingly give it a helping hand. Showcase it, showcase it as you,  the Author. Let people into the world of your project. We are so in love with this and know it will help people, so let’s get it out there so more can find it!
• Is it wanting a bit of a refresh? Maybe the energy of when it was first published needs to be tweaked a bit? Maybe it doesn’t and you just energetically need to get behind it again.

If you are thinking, I wish I had of, or this would be better – YOU CAN CHANGE IT. Just because this version is out there, doesn’t mean that a different version of it cannot ever happen! Because it most definitely can. Whether it is changing a few written things inside, maybe playing with the cover. Lean into the energy and see what it wants in this season.

Wannabe Author… NOW IS YOUR TIME!!!!!

Honestly and truly, if a book, card deck, journal, ebook or whatever the hell else has been playing on your mind – now is the time my friend.

Let’s not put it off another year and put it in the too hard basket. It honestly can be as easy or as hard as YOU make it.

So, time to ask yourself…

• Where do I want this project to flow – what will go in it – it could be your memoir, maybe the modalities you use, your channelled wisdom – start making a loose plan of what you might like to include in it. It doesn’t mean it is going to stay but it is a start, right? Check over your social media posts and look at what you speak A LOT about, that is usually a good indication of your passion for it and your knowledge.
• Am I willing to commit some time to this? I have known some people that are so fired up they get it mainly out within hours, and some that need to potter and take their time over months – there is no right or wrong here, but you definitely have to be willing to commit some time to this process. Even if it is just research at this stage.
• How do I want this to be published – Do I want to try and DIY it and find my own helpers if I cannot do it myself. Do I want to try and submit to traditional publishers and see where that takes me. Do I want to find a self-publisher that will do it for me, my way? Start your research as you write so you can feel confident in your decision when the time comes. It can also help light a firecracker up your project, so you get a wriggle on and complete it, if a publisher or helper is waiting on you.
• Start marketing now!!! How can I let my audience know this is what I am thinking of doing. How can I share, get their opinions? It doesn’t matter if it never happens, although let’s hope that isn’t the case, but still bring your audience along for the ride. One, it gives you the excitement factor to keep going as they get invested in it, and two they will have great opinions to share if you ask for it – they are your perfect customer after all. And three, it gets them invested to want to buy your book!

These are just a few little tips to start you on the process to see exactly where you are at in your Author journey. Other points may come up as you do it, if so fab! If not, then they are not meant to come up right now, but it doesn’t mean there won’t be time a for a review at another time.
