Focus on Women’s Wellbeing by Deb Webber

The train wreck of hormones and treating imbalances naturally

Hormones are the special chemical messengers that are responsible for regulating most of our major bodily processes and optimizes how we function.  Our body is designed to naturally produce and regulate the production of hormones but occasionally dysregulation occurs. Stress, poor diet, environmental factors and even the seasons of our life contribute to fluctuations.

Women appear to be prone to hormonal imbalance, although it is more likely is because of the differences in male and female hormones and the cyclic nature of women’s bodies.   Menstruation, pregnancy and the post-natal phase along with the period before menopause colloquially termed perimenopause can wreak havoc for many women.  Hormonal imbalances can contribute to weight gain, sleep irregularities, depression, brain fog, and infertility to name but a few.

To experience hormonal imbalance is a very natural process that sometimes requires intervention.  Diagnosis and treatment for many forms of hormonal imbalance is highly individual and often start with a medical Doctor.   At Zen Chi Natural Therapies and Wellbeing, we are all for individual needs.  And seeking medical advice is always a good place to commence healing conditions involving hormonal imbalances.  However natural therapies could be a great complimentary inclusion in your hormone repair plan.  We invite you to consider a holistic approach to bringing your body back to a state of homeostasis.

Here are three natural therapies you might consider as part of your holistic approach to a hormonal wellness plan:

  1. Massage can support a healthy endocrine function through resetting the central nervous system.   Massage stimulates receptors that send signals to the nervous system, which produces neurohormones, a group of hormones responsible for feeling good.
  2. Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine has a significant impact on hormones and the endocrine system.  By building blood, nourishing yin and promoting optimal organ function, hormonal balance can be restored through acupuncture and Chinese medicinal herbs.
  3. Yoga has an outstanding affect on bringing hormones into a state of balance.   The nature of yoga is to reduce stress, reset the nervous system and calm and strengthen the body.  When you slow down and focus on mindful awareness through practices like yoga, hormones will naturally start to regulate.

We offer plenty of other options to support your leading a healthy and well life through a holistic approach.  Our therapists do not diagnose conditions but can help complete your integrated health plan.  Our professional therapists will work with your medical team and provide you with holistic therapies to compliment your overall medical treatment.  We respect your wishes and if you decide to exclusively use a natural approach, we can recommend other natural therapists who can form a holistic team to help you.  If you would like to discuss how we can support you return to feelings of wellness and balance please reach out to us via our social pages or email us today.

If you are a qualified natural therapist who would like to be part of our network, please contact us today.  We love meeting other like-minded professionals. https://www.zen-chi.net.au
