In the Southern Hemisphere, June marks the beginning of winter. The days are shorter and cooler. Our horses are growing their thicker winter coats, the chickens are in bed by 5pm and the dogs are not keen to linger outside any longer than necessary. With the shorter days, I’m taking time to rest and reflect. The year thus far has been action packed, so I’m enjoying taking things a little slower.
Recently, I did a session with a lady and her elderly dog. Naturally the lady wanted her dog to be as healthy as possible and live for as long as possible. When I work with animals, I find that they have a very different attitude to death and dying to us humans. Often we fear death which can sometimes stop us living our lives fully.
This morning when I was out with my own dogs, I was reflecting on the session that I had with the lady and her dog and the messages that came through. Two of my own dogs are now elderly and I see changes happening for them. Like the lady from the session, I too want my dogs to live long, healthy lives, but I also need to remember to respect their wishes as to the length of that life. This was one of the strong messages that came through when I was doing the session with the elderly dog the other day. Whilst my own dogs still have a lot of life and energy in them, I know that the change is coming and coming sooner than I would like it. What comforts me is the philosophy of the animals. Like I said previously, they do not get as caught up in the emotions of living and dying as we do. They are born, they fit in as much living as they can and then they die – often way to soon from our perspective, but not theirs. When the dogs and I go down to the dam, I watch the younger girls enjoy themselves by running around and playing tag with each other. My eldest girl likes to enjoy herself by sitting in the sun. Whilst my boy toggles between sitting beside me and running around with his sisters. They teach me about living in the moment and making the most of life. The lives of our animal companions are a lot like a winter day – short but with a lot of living packed in.
I’m going to offer a new type of session, which I will share with the Holistic Bliss Community first. It’s a 25-minute mini Animal Communication session called Heart Connection. It’s usually $70, but I’m offering it for $60 until 30/6/2025. These sessions will only be offered remotely and are perfect for the pet parent with a single concern or who wants to do a quick check in with their animal companion.
