A practicing pagan and the owner of The Sacred Willow, an online metaphysical and spiritual supply store, it brings me great joy to see people making magick in their lives and treading their spiritual path. This month, I would like to talk to you about manifesting change in your life.
In the past I worked in corporate sales at two of the world’s largest drug companies and from my time as a successful corporate professional, I know manifesting change requires hard work and focus. January is always a time when we think about what we want to create for ourselves. It’s easy to cut out pictures from magazines and create a “vision board” of images of the life you would like. While a vision board is a great place to start, particularly to help you visualise what you want, I found my vision boards didn’t change my behaviour or help me reach my goals. I had the pretty pictures but no real plan. Over time the pictures would fade and start to curl up and then the glue would give out and those cut outs would drop to the floor like autumn leaves! I was missing an important step; aligning to my vision.
Vision boards taught me that I must align my vision to reality, and this is where a vision statement can help. In corporate speak, a vision statement is an ideal goal for where a company will be in five or ten-years’ time. It’s a defined, short statement that gives company directors and staff something to easily align to. It makes decisions simpler. When something is not in alignment with the vision for the company, it’s not done. When we live a magickal life, having a personal vision statement allows us to clearly step into our potential. Once we have our vision clearly defined, we can simply choose to do things which align to that vision. And we can map out our mission. A mission statement is the day-to-day nuts and bolts of how we will achieve our vision and how we can make our dreams reality.
Spirit meets us at the point of action and there is plenty we can do to make our dreams come true. In the physical reality, get clear on what you want. Write down your vision statement and then set out goals and steps on how you can achieve it. This forms the basis of your mission statement. Review your goals regularly and refine them. Are they still in alignment with your vision or has it shifted? What’s working and what’s not working, and what do you need to change? Perhaps a mentor or mastermind group of like-minded people can help you to achieve your vision. Be open minded and observant to opportunities that are presented to you as sometimes spirit can manifest your vision in unexpected ways.
In the metaphysical reality we can give our vision and mission a boost through visualisation or meditation. You could also try making a magickal mojo bag. These are small, cotton bags filled with herbs, crystals and magickal curios designed for a specific intention.
To create a success and abundance mojo bag you will need a piece of orange or yellow fabric (or a cotton mojo bag), twine and magickal curios for luck and abundance such as peony root, Hoyt’s Cologne, carnelian, citrine, lodestones, and Lucky Hand root.
To make the mojo bag:
Place your magickal items in the bag or centre of the piece of fabric. Use an odd number of items and no more than 13 items in your mojo bag.
Once all your items are in your bag tie it up using draw strings or a piece of natural fibre twine.
Charge your bag by holding it between your hands in a prayer position and meditate or visualise your intentions for the mojo bag.
Carry the bag in your pocket or place it in a position of significance such as your altar.
Once your mojo bag has completed its purpose, you can dispose of natural and biodegradable items by burying them in the ground.
