Seeking Depth in a Shallow World? by Rebecca-Lee

I know that many of you are feeling like me, probably a little tired of the constant bombardment of drama and pushing to be somewhere other than where we are right now.

Whether that is within ourselves, or our world somehow. I don’t get out a lot. I love being at home in my own space.

Though at times it can be tempting and even lazy to spend my time on the computer mindlessly scrolling away, soaking in all that bad energy. I do prefer to put my feet on the grass, tend to my plants and right now I am learning about how I can work with the grasshoppers so they don’t destroy my rose plant! (any tips welcomed!)

I constantly yearn to paint, read, write, meditate and just be. My work schedule doesn’t always allow that, but I find if I don’t eventually put my foot down and remember the importance of these things, my whole inner and outer world becomes out of balance.

I yearn the deep and simple.

I feel that is where many spiritual leaders and teachers get to. I often think about what it is like when you meet a Monk or an Elder, you may expect something that you may not understand yourself or have to get your hand around, something like when you are reading some kind of science or maths textbook. But it isn’t like that. They give such simple guidance, yet it is so deep.

I do often find myself in this kind of “simple, yet deep” space. As humans we are designed for the deep and simple. Yet our world increasingly pushes us to a life that is both shallow and complex. I find myself even more alienated from the world than what I ever have before.

I get bored of technology. Getting caught up in scrolling in social media is so mind numbing, and really how many shows on Netflix can you watch until you literally feel like you have left the building???

Apps to “support” us and make our work easier, often take as much time to fine tune and program as what it would have for us to just sit, think and reflect on what we want to do, say or create.

At what point do we realise that it may not be for our benefit to hand our intelligence and creativity entirely over to the machines? Then what? What would we do without thinking, creating and working things out for ourselves? Even just a little bit!

My son is 15. Our world was turned upside down a bit this year. The previous year, he had ventured into the online gaming world for the first time. I needed to give him a little bit of room to move and see where he would go with it. A year later, he has completely stopped gaming. I didn’t do or say anything. I have simply just raised him connected to the earth and his own Soul. I said to him one weekend (he was never allowed on it during the week), “are you not gaming with your friend tonight?” He said nah, I’m done with it, it is just boring now.

He quit on his own accord, because, I believe, he is so connected to his Soul. He craves movement and creation. He wants to move his body, ride bikes in the bush, go to the beach, go to thy gym, build stuff with his hands, listen to music and have deep conversations about life. He has so many questions. He is alive and conscious.

I quit all mainstream media almost twenty years ago – mainstream television and newspapers. My father thought I was being ignorant. Now, I find I must limit dramatically social media. We are being constantly bombarded and polarised by the media. This is to keep us in a low vibration. The more we allow ourselves to be manipulated in this way, the more the divide and conquer method works for people that don’t truly have our best interests at hearts.

I want to meditate. I want to connect to Spirt.  I want to read books that help me delve more into who I am, what I want to do with my life and how.

I love to be in the depth and simplicity of nature. I believe we all need to come back to the cycles of nature and remember we are here, living through cycles. That we are deeply connected to earth and spirit and we are spiritual beings here having a human experience.

Can you relate?

This is my last blog for Holistic Bliss for 2024. I am bringing you this note, because I encourage you to keep things simple – deep and simple.

I have some FREE festive gifts for you if you are interested, and an invitation to connect to nature, to your soul, to spirit and get back to the natural cycles of life over the next year if you would like.

Follow the links below. Thank you for reading my articles this year. I hope you do take the offer to do the Lover Archetype survey and listen to the Breaking the Cycle webinar. There is so much information to help you on your path in there.
