In my crystal therapy room, people often ask ‘which crystals can’t I wear together?’ It’s a good question, and one I used to wonder about myself when I first started working with crystals.
Back then, I’d pile them on – partly because I thought their energies would all work as one, and partly because, well let’s be honest, they looked so pretty together! But after an hour or so, I’d often have to take them all off. I’d feel tired, fuzzy, or just a bit out of sorts. It took me a while to realise that some crystals don’t always get along as well as others.
When Crystals Clash
Certain crystals have very different vibrations and purposes, and when they are combined, they can pull your energy in opposite directions.
Let’s use Carnelian and Amethyst as an example. Carnelian is warm, fiery and energising – great for motivation and getting things done. Amethyst is the opposite – soft, soothing, and spiritual. Put them together and it can feel like pressing the accelerator and the brake at the same time. Unless it was your intention, you are activating your lower chakras and upper chakras in an unbalanced way.
Another pairing that can be a bit much is Clear Quartz and Moldavite. Both are strong amplifiers, so their energy together can be very intense, even overwhelming. For some, that’s exciting – for others, it can leave you feeling ungrounded and a little spacey. If you feel ready to be working with Moldavite, but feel spacey, double check you are using it on its own away from other crystals.
It’s really about finding what feels right for you. If a combination leaves you feeling tired or uneasy, then that’s your body’s way of saying ‘too much’.
When Crystals Work in Harmony
On the other hand, some crystals just seem to love each other’s company, and just seemed designed to blend and balance beautifully.
A great paring with Amethyst is Rose Quartz – one that I recommend to my clients frequently. Rose Quartz opens the heart and energises your fourth heart chakra, bringing a gentle, loving energy, while Amethyst calms the mind and deepens spiritual awareness. Together they create a peaceful, nurturing energy. These crystals are good for self-care, healing and sleep.
Another good combination of crystals is Carnelian and Citrine – a sunny, feel-good pair. Citrine radiates joy and abundance; Carnelian adds confidence and drive. Together, they’re great for boosting motivation or sparking creativity, and they are good crystals for luck.
Trust Your Own Energy
What I teach people is that there really aren’t any hard-and-fast rules when it comes to crystals. Some people love the vibrant energetic buzz when lots of stones come together; where others prefer working with the energy of one or two crystals. In most cases less can definitely be more.
The best way to know what works is to listen to your energy. Notice how you feel when you wear certain stones together. If it feels good, it’s right. If it doesn’t, take one off and see what changes.
Crystals are wonderful teachers. They help us tune in, slow down, and become more aware of what our body and energy are telling us. That’s where their real power lies.
This is the work that I help my clients with – helping you to reconnect with your own inner guidance system so that you can move forward with clarity, positivity and calmness. The goal is to find peace with where you are, without having all the answers, so that your inner world can be more peaceful and reflect a more desirable outer world. If you would like some help to shift your energy using crystals and vibrational energy healing practices, I would love to help you with a session in my Canberra therapy rooms.
