Have you ever found yourself saying, “I’m not creative”? Many of us have often associated creativity with artistic talents or unique gifts that only a select few possess. I hear it all the time from my clients during sessions, with responses like, “I can’t paint,” or “I’m not artistic.” But what if you realised that creativity is inherent in each one of us from the moment we are born?
The truth is it is not confined to paintbrushes and canvases. Creativity is the art of shaping possibilities into reality, and we are all doing it every day. It’s in the way we solve problems and think outside the box, from organising your pantry to planning an adventure, or simply working out what you’re having for dinner tonight, you’re engaging in the creative process. Literally everything you do is creative.
Conscious awareness and realisation that you ARE A CREATIVE BEING unleashes a flood of new and fresh energy in the body. Our innate creative force just loves to feel alive and experience new perspectives, experiment with ideas, and embrace the unknown. Remember, creativity isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being bold and courageous enough to try. It is the force of energy within us that wants to become a physical reality and each of us has a unique way of expressing it. This could be through writing, gardening, cooking, or perhaps problem-solving, there are so many ways of creative expression. Your interests and passions are the fuel for your creative fire, and it is through your creativity that you learn about who you are, what you love and often it will reveal a deeper and more meaningful purpose.
So, how can you tap into your innate creativity? Here are a few tips to help you unleash your creative potential:
- Explore and adventure: Step out of your comfort zone and try new things. This could be as simple as taking a different route home, learning a new skill, or going on an adventure. Whatever it is, a side effect of doing something new makes you more consciously aware and enlivens the senses – this is the creative force in you!
- Embrace Imperfection: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Imperfections are often the birthplace of creativity and innovation and can be great motivators to make fresh new changes.
- Journal: Jot down your ideas, thoughts, and inspirations. Writing can spark new connections and insights and give you the opportunity to reflect on your creative achievements.
- Sharing: Engage with others, bounce ideas off friends, or join creative communities. Collaboration can ignite fresh perspectives and ideas.
- Mindfulness: Take time to pause, reflect, and listen to your inner voice. Beyond the mental chatter there lies an amazing treasure chest of ideas, wisdom and opportunity all bursting to be brought to life by YOU!!!
Creativity is the inspired action you take in everything you do; it is not a destination it’s the journey and is a universal language that connects us all. With every action you take you are creatively weaving yourself not only into your individual world but also the bigger tapestry of life
So, remember … Creativity is not a skill reserved for the few; it is a spark that resides in all of us, creativity knows no limits – it is a reflection of your unique essence.
