One of the things I get asked a lot is: How do you know what needs change in your life?

Back in 2009 when I began this journey of self-awareness, purpose, discovery and deliberate self-love, my life was a mess (or so it seemed to me at that time!). I was so far removed from being present and aware, that I put everything into the same bucket of ‘hopelessness and unhappiness’, and then decided it was far too much for me to change!

What I did next was extreme but, in my mind, the only option/answer.

I sold my home, my business, many belongings, and I moved state. You see, I was blaming the external for my misalignment – the people, situations, and experiences. I was totally unaware of the truth and totally blind to what I ‘thought’ I was changing.

In my mind back then, I was changing the external environment (that was not feeling good!) and that was going to bring happiness.

The truth was – the changes HAD to come from within and I found this out a year or two down the track in my new environment – where I still felt unhappy!

What I have discovered from my choices at that time is that if I had been more present and aware of what the actual problems or issues were, I could have made different, less angry and harsh decisions. I would have been clear on what I wanted and didn’t want, what felt good and what didn’t feel good.

And this is how I help so many of my clients now who come to me feeling out of alignment, unhappy, unfulfilled, and unhealthy with no energy.

Awareness is key and after our first conversation I assist and clarify for my client what the actual issue really is. Only THEN can they truly begin to bring about lasting change for themselves in that area, and then others.

What do you need to be aware of?

  • What IS going well and what ISNT going well for you right now?
  • What brings you joy each day and what doesn’t?
  • Is this an old sabotage pattern showing up?
  • Where are you feeling this situation in your body?
  • Is it the external environment that you feel out of alignment with, or who you are, in this environment?

Asking simple questions about why you feel lost or out of alignment will bring you far more awareness than blame, remorse, regret or anger will and, please believe me when I say I was there for far too long and change could not occur!

Being present is the first step to awareness.

Awareness then gives you the truth about how you feel.

This can then bring you clarity and focus on what you choose to change.

This targeted change will then come about with more ease and grace and will have a longer lasting effect.

And just to be clear – all change begins within and this is what awareness will bring you clarity on. It truly is one of your greatest superpowers for, not only longer lasting change in your life, but to be living in the present and being all you can be in that moment. After all, that is why we are here, in my humble opinion.
